Director Statement
Conceptually, Hit N Run recontexualizes the traditional western through the eyes of two black men, leaning on Freud’s idea of the ID and the ego to explore the black psyche in the face of
adversity. By broadly painting a few societal cornerstones (socio-economic mobility, religion, vices, criminal justice) in relation to the black community, we’re able to explore the intricacies of these mens’ identities. The Western blueprint serves as our guide, as we hope to create a starting point in discussing what the differing experiences of the typical cowboy archetype and that of a marginalized party may be.
